GPUs with ratings above 90 kVA do as a standard have two output contactors. Because aircraft do have their own internal supervision, which ensures that the load on each plug does not exceed 90 kVA on a continuous basis, a separate supervision of the two outlets is not a standard.
Separate overload protection ensuring that none of the two outlets can provide more than 90 kVA on a continuous basis is realised by means of current transformers mounted at the two outlets.
Max. overload rating for each outlet:
90 kVA continuously
100-120% load for 600 seconds
120-150% load for 30 seconds
> 150 % load for 5 seconds
